Managed print services (MPS) is a campus-wide strategic purchasing initiative much like the fleet copier program. Both programs are designed to consolidate costs for the machines and take advantage of the university's buying power under a single agreement. Standard offerings include:
- All toner. Bonus: if your printer is on the network, the toner will be delivered automatically.
- Complimentary replacement of some printers.
- Maintenance and repair of malfunctioning printers on the program.
- Four hour response time from on-site CTX support staff.
Who is providing the machines?
CTX/Xerox will provide all services and toner. Departments may purchase covered printers from CTX or on Duck Depot. When purchasing a printer from a vendor other than CTX please notify CTX of the purchase.
I already have a printer. Do I really need a new one?
It depends. If you have a covered printer you are ready to participate in the program! If your printer is not covered CTX will provide you with a new printer of like function for free.
Is this mandatory?
UO has implemented a strategic purchasing policy to help ensure we receive the best value for our dollars. Participation in this program is mandatory unless the exemption request process is followed and approved. That process can be found in the strategic purchasing policy.
How much does it cost?
CTX has many models to choose from with a wide range of options.
What is a "per-click" rate?
"Per-click" refers to a single-sided image, text or picture, printing on a piece of paper. The "per-click" rate is the cost of each single-sided page printed. The per-click rates charged by CTX under this program are significantly lower than retail or even discounted toner available from common office supply vendors.
How are fees assessed?
Networked printers will be charged for actual prints at the appropriate per-click rate automatically. For locally connected printers, departments have the option to pay low monthly flat fees or self-reported per-click rates.
